Established in 1735, our university has a rich history as an institute for training specialists in mining and metallurgy, serving as a model for polytechnic institutes worldwide. Over the centuries, we've evolved into a comprehensive university with traditional technical faculties such as Earth Sciences, Materials Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, and Informatics. We've also embraced new disciplines like Economy, Law, Arts and Humanities, Health Care, and Music, offering continuing education and higher-level vocational training. With approximately 10,000 students and a dedicated academic and administrative staff, we're a thriving academic community.
 

A Unique Campus Environment
 

Our campus, known as 'University Town,' is a unique and expansive space designed in the American campus model. Nestled within a vast park, this 850,000 square meter campus is an integral part of Miskolc. The Bartók Béla Music Institute, integrated into our university in 1997, can be found in the downtown Palace of Music.
