About Canada

Canada is a North American country consisting of 10 provinces and 3 territories. From east to west, it spans almost 4,700 miles (7,560 kilometers) and goes across 6 time zones. It is the second largest country in the world, but it has only one-half of one percent of the world's population.

Canada is a picturesque nation and has lakes, numerous rivers, sublime mountains, central plains, and greenwood valleys in the east.  In the north, a portion of Canada exists in the Arctic, where ice, snow, and glaciers dominate the environment.

Many languages are spoken by Canadians with English and French (the official languages) being the mother tongues of approximately 56 percent and 21 percent of Canadians, respectively.

Canadian culture embraces the expressive, dietary, literary, humor, musical, political and social elements that are representative of Canadians. Throughout Canada's history, its culture has been influenced by European culture and traditions, mostly by the British and French, and by its own indigenous cultures. Over time, elements of the cultures of Canada's immigrant populations have become incorporated to form a Canadian cultural mosaic. As a result, she is now usually described as very progressive, diverse, and multicultural.

The economy of Canada is a highly one and is the 8th largest GDP by nominal and 15th largest GDP by PPP in the world. As with other developed nations, the country's economy is dominated by the service industry. On the Corruption Perceptions Index, Canada is ranked as one of the least corrupt countries in the world and is one of the world's top ten trading nations, with a highly globalized economy. The unemployment rate is very low, and the minimum wage is $15,55 per hour.
