Óbuda University traces its roots back to the rich legacy of Hungarian education and innovation. The journey began in 1879 when the Budapest State Central Industrial Office, the first legal predecessor of the institution, was established under the guidance of Minister Ágoston Trefort. The foundation of the Bánki Donát Mechanical Engineering Technical College and the Kandó Kálmán Electrical Engineering Technical College marked pivotal moments in creating a practice-oriented technical higher education environment in Budapest. In 1999, the integration of various independent colleges formed the Budapest College of Technology, eventually culminating in the establishment of Óbuda University in the 21st century.
